“Sonic x Shadow Generations” has to be one of the best remakes and new games out there this year. It stands superior above all 2d and 3d platformers in terms of its graphics and storytelling. Ever since I played the game it has been nothing less than expected and in fact was even a little bit more. There is a lot to uncover here so without further ado I will start going in depth with my review of “Sonic x Shadow Generations.”
To start off, I want to talk about the remake of “Sonic Generations.” This was a much needed remake. Not only does it look better, the controls feel better too. The game in and of itself was fairly difficult providing me with a uniquely fun experience. I loved playing though the classic levels such as Green Hill Zone and Chemical Plant Zone, they just brought an aura of nostalgia to this game and being able to revisit refurbished bosses was amazing. I really like battling the Death Egg Robot and Perfect Chaos, which provided much challenge and much satisfaction due to how smooth they played out. I would also like to address the major difference that not having lives makes, which in and of itself allows gamers to try again and again and again with little to no punishment. This makes it further easier to 100% the game with the collectables. I would recommend this portion of the game alone to anyone getting back into Sonic games.
Now with Shadow Generations, it becomes a whole different story with much to explore. Vs. Sonic Generations, this game towers over it with a dominating 3d world lobby. Being able to adventure in all sorts of different areas and find little easter eggs becomes so much fun here. I love what they did with the story in providing more interaction between Shadow, Maria, Gerald Robotnik, and Black Doom. Gerald Robotnik is one of my favorite characters in all of fictional media and a great role model to go after as he is a renowned and grand scientist. I was also really excited to fight Biolizard because I remember beating Sonic Adventure 2 and having that be a challenge. This boss fight provided a stupendous reinterpretation of the bossfight. It was truly amazing. There is so much depth to these characters compared to Sonic Generations and the end of the story made me shed many tears as the characters returned back to their own timeline. This was a phenomenal game, I wholeheartedly rate this game a 10/10 and recommend it to anyone who is looking for an emotionally packed game. It is a great day to be a Knight!
