Hillcrest High School’s most recent talent show was an amazing event not only for the audience but also the performers. The winners were Matthew Kelley, Ivy Hatch, and Landon Murdock.
Matthew Kelley, first place winner, performed a magic act. “[I came up with the routine] with something called Youtube. All the tricks I find off of different channels, one of them was one of Shin Lim’s tricks that he used on the finals of ‘America’s Got Talent.’ It didn’t turn out the way I expected it to but it still worked, so I’m not complaining.” Matthew used the judges as volunteers to help with his tricks where he performed multiple tricks that left the audience in awe.
Ivy Hatch was the second place winner. She performed a dance that she choreographed herself and spent lots of time learning and rehearsing. Ivy had a beautiful costume and was definitely a fan favorite.
Landon Murdock won third place with a piano playing act. Landon has not been playing piano for most of his life. “I’ve been doing piano for only two years and it’s been fun.” At the talent show, Landon performed a song he wrote himself. “[Writing music for my talent] was a piece of cake, it was easy.”
Audience members also loved the talent show. Zoey and Owen Larson both agreed that the talent show was a great place to see people’s talents. Many people thought it was a fun way to see their friends’ talents in a cool environment.
