Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live on Mars? There’s a lot of different hardships you have to endure in order to survive, though the main things you have to worry about are water, food and oxygen. Recently, NASA’s new discovery may seem to help on the water side of things. They found that there were huge ice water deposits within Mars’ equator. This could be very useful and another huge step towards getting people onto Mars.
Along with these ice water deposits being useful for our needs, it also opens a ton of potential discoveries. First of all, it can help show us what Mars’ climate has looked like in the past. Another great thing about these deposits is that they could be used as a rocket fuel source. This turns out to be very useful because if you get stranded on Mars you still have a chance to escape. Overall, it seems like these water deposits are going to bring much more discoveries to NASA.
These pockets of ice water are found within one of the most mysterious deposits which is called the Medusae Fossae Formation. Scientists used to think that this was just a ton of dust, but recently they found out that there were huge amounts of water beneath it. One downside to this is that we won’t be able to reach the water easily, as it’s under so much dust that it would take years in order to reach a little bit of it.
Overall, I believe that this is a huge discovery, as it opens up so much more potential for having civilization on Mars. Even if Mars doesn’t supply food and oxygen, there’s still a chance for us to live there if we bring our own food and oxygen tanks. As I stated before, the only problem is the hefty amount of dust burying the water, making it almost impossible to get to it in the first place.
