Season One Owl House Opening

The Owl House, created by Dana Terrace, is a 2020 animated series that recently exploded in popularity on Disney Plus. The show depicts a young Dominican-American girl, named Luz, who finds a portal in the woods that takes her to a world filled with demons, witches, and magic called the Boiling Isles. There, she meets a wild witch named Eda Clawthorne and her pet demon, King. The show tells the story of Luz becoming the witch she had always dreamed of being with Eda as her mentor, learning all she can about the Boiling Isles and meeting other witches her age.

This show has been a hit, with millions of views every month, and is one of the first all-ages Disney shows to portray main characters as openly part of the LGBTQ community. Not only that, the show includes an abundance of Gen Z memes and jokes while also affiliating with horror. This balance of comedy and horror makes for great entertainment. Not only is the show super enjoyable, the characters of The Owl House are beloved by fans; their dedication has shown through their epic cosplays. Fanfics and fanart have also been popular within the fandom and showcase the talented artists and writers. With the success of the show, fans are eager for season three to be released so the story of the Boiling Isles can continue; the first episode was premiered on October 15, 2022, and can be watched on Youtube and the Disney channel. It has yet to come onto Disney Plus.

According to Tiermaker, fans have ranked a majority of the characters. A few of the “Best Characters Ever” include Eda Clawthorne, Amity Blight, who is a fellow witch at Hexside High School, King, Luz, and Owlbert, who is Eda’s palisman. The Palisman is an animal companion that transforms into a staff that witches can use to amplify their magic and to fly. Eda is also known as the Owl Lady, hence the owl palisman. Personally, my favorite characters include Eda, King, Gus, another witch from Hexside, and the Golden Guard, a character introduced in season two with a very ominous backstory.

Overall, The Owl House is one of the most successful shows of this year and has grown in popularity over many platforms. It has helped the creator, Dana, to continue to grow this amazing show, and possibly work on more projects. The Owl House has been one of my personal favourite shows and I highly recommend all lovers of animated series, horror, and comedy to watch and enjoy this amazing show.
