Hurricane Milton is a recent tragic event that has affected most parts of Florida. This event has taken many lives of innocent people. How did this hurricane happen? Were citizens prepared? How did this affect the world? This hurricane was recognized by meteorologists in September of this year. This captured their attention as it was very threatening. Milton was created by a disturbance in the Atlantic. It was classified as a tropical storm but very quickly after, it was classified as a hurricane. This hurricane grew at one of the fastest rates in recorded history.
Citizens of Florida prepared for this event by evacuating to other states or safer areas in the state. Unfortunately some of these people didn’t act quick enough and gas ran out, flights were all booked, and traffic was busy. These people had to stay back in Florida and wish for the best. They boarded up their homes and items against the doors and windows. The saddest thing that they had to do was write their names and dates of birth on their arms in case they were killed by this hurricane. They did this so that officers would be able to identify them if they were found after the storm.
The storm officially hit on October 10th, 2024. Luckily, it wasn’t as bad as meteorologists measured it to be. Even though it wasn’t as bad, many buildings and homes were affected in this storm. People all over the country have volunteered to help after the unfortunate destruction of the state. Hopefully this problem gets resolved over the next few months, and everyone stays safe.
