Nicki Minaj or Cardi B? Which one is the queen of rap? This debate has been going on since the late 2010s. It is rumored that the debate originally started in 2017. These rappers are the biggest and most famously known female rappers in their industry. Both have similar music and similar attitudes. Nicki’s top hit songs include “Super Bass”, “Anaconda”, “Only”, and “Moment 4 Life”. Cardis B’s top songs include “Bodak Yellow”, “WAP”, and “I Like It”.
A majority of people at Hillcrest High School are Nicki Minaj fans. When asked why, people responded with, because her music is more fun to sing along to, Nicki has a better attitude, and Nicki’s songs are generally better. “Because she has OG songs, like “Starships” that you can sing along to” (Evelyn Corvarubias, 11). Nicki Minaj has a more upbeat style of music compared to Cardi’s songs. “I just prefer her singing more” (Payton Popwell, 10).
These two talented artists have definitely had their fair share of drama. Starting with heated social media exchanges to physical altercations, their rivalry has made headlines. However, amidst all the controversy, it is important to remember that they both have their own unique music style and fan bases.
In terms of who is more successful on paper, it would be Nicki Minaj. She is the richest female rapper in the world as of 2024. Nicki has also sold more albums overall, with over 100 million records sold worldwide. Cardi B’s album Invasion of Privacy has been certified triple platinum. When it comes to social media Nicki also has 60 million more followers than Cardi.
Overall Nicki is more liked and is more successful than Cardi B. But both artists have their pros and cons and have their own fan bases.
