The Idaho Falls Hockey Team, Spud Kings

The Spud Kings, after a rough start, have been climbing through the ranks. The team is beginning to play well together and the new coach is helping out significantly. From losing every game in double digits to winning games outright, this season has been a roller coaster. With this year of hockey coming to an end, the Spud Kings won’t be able to make it through to the playoffs, as they began their comeback too late. This doesn’t mean fun at the ice rink has to end, seeing as concerts, comedians, and more are having shows hosted at the arena. The local hockey team has also been able to double the amount of practices due to the ice being open , which has led to some real improvements. Overall, I believe that Hero Arena is a great improvement to Idaho falls and will be for years to come. There is one problem with the games; fans have begun to pose a problem. People seem to not realize that it is only 16-20 year olds playing these games, and fans have done some unacceptable things. . For example, people have thrown many things on the ice, dumped beer on the players, and encouraged the teams to fight. For a family friendly event, the behavior has not been acceptable. An email had to be put out saying that this has to stop and we need to be respectful or precautions will be taken. I believe that if you can’t handle watching these teenager play hockey, then you don’t need to be there. Otherwise, you should be more respectful at these games.
