Following the release of Sonic the Hedgehog in 2020, Paramount Pictures released Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in April of this year. With a runtime slightly over 2 hours, it is on the longer side of films these days. In terms of plot, I was underwhelmed, and frankly left confused for a portion of the film. When I wasn’t confused I was slightly mad, because half the movie could have not happened, if Sonic ran faster, instead of jogging on the side of the road.

The special effects were also lacking. They don’t try to hide the fact that it was green screened, as well as the whole movie having a sort of blurriness. One of the positives that this movie has is its acting. It has a really good cast, but standing out above it all, is Jim Carrey. This whole movie is carried by him and his role, Doctor Robotnic. Another good thing about Sonic the Hedgehog 2, is its humor. This movie made me laugh the most out of any movie this year. Overall, I give it a 6/10. I would recommend watching it if you have a free afternoon, but I wouldn’t actively miss something important to see it.
