The 1937 Disney classic “Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs” was a double awarded film and made 418 million dollar profit. It was the first of its kind. This film was a massive risk as most animated films at the time were short, but this was well over 1 hour, which came with massive technological advances. The animators had to invent new ways to make the characters move smoothly and look so detailed. They developed things like the multiplane camera, which gave the movie a sense of depth and made the backgrounds look really beautiful. This film was not only notable for its huge technological advances but also the emotional side of the film. It proved animation could tell a real story: before “Snow White,” people didn’t think cartoons could make you feel emotions like sadness, happiness, or even a little scared for the characters. “Snow White” showed that animation could be just as powerful as live-action movies in telling a complete and engaging story. It also resonated with people at the time, it brought a message of hope during the Great Depression! Its music uplifts, its storyline highlights how a young girl repays seven dwarfs by cleaning and working hard, while they give her shelter.
While its modern day live action remake lost 115 million dollars. Well the original brings a beautiful message of hope and how we can be happy even in the worst of times and the kindness in each person. This film has no relevance or resonance with the majority of people. Not only this, but as Disney focuses on a woke agenda, they changed Snow White from Caucasian to Hispanic! This was the first mistake as the number one characteristic of Snow White was her fair skin and beauty, this brought people to anger even before it was fully released. As time went by though and the trailers got released peoples’ worries were put to rest as she seemed fair skinned. But then another issue came up as the dwarfs were fully CGI’d in and this truly defeated the purpose of inclusion as Disney excluded having actual dwarves play those parts. Then there came the problem of who they chose to play Snow White: Rachel Zegler. She was seen as being a brat and even producers hated working with her. She later released videos of her ranting in complete denial of the failure of her movie. Overall this remake destroyed a classic masterpiece!
